ARCHITECTS OFFICE updates lobby and bar at Casa Grande Hotel in Guarujá.
The colonial architecture is one of the main features of Casa Grande Hotel in Guarujá, a 45,000-square-meter resort in operation since 1972, establishing itself as one of the most traditional destinations on the São Paulo coast. To engage with this historical legacy while modernizing the lobby and bar area, Architects Office São Paulo (AO-SP) proposed a contemporary redesign of the social areas divided into three stages. The first of these stages has just been completed.
The concept emphasizes spaciousness and integration with the surrounding nature, featuring the removal of visual barriers between the guests and visitors circulating through these spaces and the sea, located just meters from the hotel and at the same height as the ground floor, with its outdoor gardens being the main attraction. The visual connection enabled the creation of a 360-degree bar, where the central glass structure allows for views through it.
To accentuate transparency, walls were replaced with flowing fabric curtains, replicating the lightness and sway of the waves. Meanwhile, the wooden slat ceiling and stone flooring were retained, creating an intersection between colonial and contemporary elements.
The subsequent stages of the new interior design for Casa Grande Hotel are currently in development and are set to begin implementation starting in April.
