Architecture and the New Contemporary Living: Innovation, Connection and Diversity

Contemporary architecture is in constant metamorphosis, adapting to the changing demands and aspirations of a society in perpetual transformation.

The concept of " New Contemporary Living " emerges as a poetic response to this dynamic, merging intimately with nature, proposing new construction matrices and facing challenges to create profoundly innovative spaces.

Connection with nature, an essential need in an increasingly urban and digital world.

Harmonious integration with nature is one of the fundamental pillars of the new contemporary way of living. In an increasingly urban and digital world, the search for a deeper connection with the environment has become not only desirable, but essential. Contemporary architecture and urban planning today have incorporated natural elements into their designs, from the use of sustainable materials to the creation of green oases that foster the well-being of residents.

Buildings adorned with vertical gardens , verdant terraces and living facades are eloquent examples of how architecture can intertwine with nature. These projects not only improve air quality and urban aesthetics, but also promote a healthier and more balanced lifestyle by reconnecting inhabitants to natural rhythms and cycles .

Designed by AO , PACE Ecoville , in Curitiba, Santa Catarina , is a brilliant example of the new contemporary way of living, combining hospitality and well-being in suspended houses of different types, distributed across its 44 floors and over 160 meters high, presenting fragmented and stacked blocks, each with its own unique language, expressing rhythms and phases of life in homes covered in greenery and connected by wellness services.

The project accommodates apartments with two to four suites, duplexes and penthouses with three to five suites. The residential volumes are alternated by intervals of common areas, with 38 leisure areas blending into the landscape through the transparency of the glass. From the bottom up, the elements of the project gradually become more rational and simple, accompanied by green balconies that consolidate an urban forest in the middle of the city.

PACE ’s architecture extracts unique identities from the stacking of mismatched slabs for each façade, which, when viewed from different points of Curitiba, sometimes reveal slenderness, lightness, and a living organism of a vertical nature . These projects not only improve air quality and urban aesthetics, but also promote a healthier and more balanced lifestyle, reconnecting residents to natural rhythms and cycles , raising the quality of life in the city.

The new matrices and construction challenges; a vital foundation.

Construction innovation is emerging as a vital foundation for the development of new contemporary housing. New construction matrices encompass the use of advanced technologies, such as 3D printing, recycled materials and renewable energy systems . These advances allow the creation of buildings that are at the same time efficient, sustainable and adaptable to climate change and the unique needs of residents.

One of the most complex challenges is balancing sustainability with affordability . Innovative projects must be economically viable and socially inclusive, ensuring that individuals of different ages and socioeconomic backgrounds can enjoy the benefits of these new ways of living .

The need for urbanity intertwined with nature.

The Masterplan Paraíso das Araucárias in Campo Alegre - Santa Catarina investigates the proposal of an urban ecosystem integrated with nature with hospitality , walkability, accessibility, encouragement of mixed use , preservation and celebration of material and immaterial goods of the region.

The city of Campo Alegre, in Santa Catarina , a state in the southern region of Brazil , is a municipality of 12 thousand inhabitants and is home to one of the most representative species of local flora, the araucaria . This tree species dates back more than 200 million years, since the American and African continents were united, and reaches impressive dimensions, with up to 50 meters in height and trunks with a diameter of up to 2.5 meters.

The search for quieter urban centers that offer more intense contact with nature makes it possible to redefine the boundaries between the countryside and the city. It also shows its potential as an ecotourism destination and the urgency of promoting sustainable development integrated with the process of urbanization and urban expansion. Thus, based on the analysis of topography, vegetation and sunlight , 150 thousand square meters were reserved, out of a total of 600 thousand square meters, as part of a master plan based on sectorization that made it possible to divide two large atmospheres.

Paraíso das Araucárias is a project that awakens the tourist potential and the consolidation of the local economy of Campo Alegre with a contemporary proposal by listing social, programmatic, ecological and financial solutions in synergy with the local community . The creation foresees an entire urban ecosystem integrated with nature with walkability, accessibility, encouragement of mixed use, preservation and celebration of material and immaterial assets of the region with a unique identity signed by ARCHITECTS OFFICE .

Rhythm and Tranquility; the perfect balance for new living.

Plural and interconnected living is promoted through mixed-use programs that combine different types of apartments and common spaces. These projects aim to create heterogeneous communities where people of different ages, cultures and lifestyles can live together harmoniously.

Common spaces, such as indoor plazas, coworking areas, game rooms and gyms, foster interaction between residents. Intersecting ages and creating products that encourage this interaction are crucial to building a vibrant and inclusive community .

Modern living seeks to masterfully balance the frenetic pace of modern life with the inexorable need for tranquility and calm. Spaces designed to provide moments of serenity, such as meditation areas, spas and peaceful gardens, are just as important as those that promote socialization and activity.

Architecture should create environments that allow residents to disconnect from daily stress and reconnect with themselves and nature. This balance is achieved through a design that values harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces, promoting a sense of continuity and well-being.

The new way of living emerges as an eloquent response to the demands of a society in constant evolution. By integrating nature, using new construction matrices and facing challenges to create innovative and inclusive spaces, contemporary architecture is shaping the future of living .

Mixed and diverse programs promote plural and interconnected living, while the balance between rhythm and tranquility ensures that residents can live harmoniously and sustainably. The result is an architecture that not only meets the needs of the present, but also prepares for the challenges of the future, offering a new vision of how we can live and coexist in harmony with the environment and with each other.
