Boa Viagem Apartment: architecture that draws infinity
Overlooking Boa Viagem beach in Recife, the interior design by Architects Office invites the landscape to enter the apartment by capturing the vastness of the horizon. A concept that draws the “infinity” from the outside in, absorbing the amplitude of the sea and the sky. The architecture is thus born from a process that listens, investigates and materializes, revealing forms that embody, in addition to built environments, ways of living and coexisting with the surroundings.
From the first stages of the project, the image of the horizon and the indistinct limit between the blue of the ocean and the blue of the sky guided the materialization of the spaces, ensuring that the panoramic view was always present. Thus, the apartment's layout was carefully reorganized to broaden the perspectives and reinforce the connection between the interior and exterior. The staircase, originally positioned in a corner, was moved to the center of the duplex, transforming it into a sculptural and fluid element, in total harmony with the concept of spatial continuity.
On the lower floor, there are intimate spaces – bedrooms, closets and TV room –, where natural wood carpentry warms the ambiance and reinforces the welcoming atmosphere. The entrance hall is presented as a wood-clad box, a prelude to the dazzling living room, which opens completely to the ocean. On the upper floor, the social areas unfold in an open composition, where the living room, kitchen and barbecue area form a single living space.
As a meeting point between art and nature, the furniture and coverings follow organic lines and awaken the senses through natural materials and tones. The project creates an atmosphere of serenity and welcoming, where each materialized element evokes sensations, connecting space and surroundings. The surfaces are predominantly neutral, acting as a screen for light and landscape.
To avoid neutrality that is sometimes perceived as monotonous, careful textures and compositions add depth: triangulated slatted panels, which evoke the softness of the waves; marble and natural stones, which bring an authentic mineral aspect; and lacquered wood, conferring unity and elegance. Blue appears as a chromatic accent, materializing in the natural stone that covers the kitchen counter and in the linear bench in the living room, both custom-designed for the space.
The furniture was designed to follow the organic nature of the architecture, with curved shapes that reinforce the spatial fluidity. Without corners, without visual obstructions, each piece was positioned to allow free movement of the eye and body. The same principle governs the carpentry, where hidden doors mimic the curved walls and the marble countertops in the bathrooms take on a sculptural character, without compromising the view of the sea.
The pool, located on the upper floor of the duplex, is elevated to create an infinity effect mirroring the ocean and epitomizes the essence of the apartment: a place where space dissolves into the horizon, and where living becomes an act of contemplation.
