Situated in a building in Jardins, at the tree canopy level, the Gallery Apartment was inspired by the Belle Époque, featuring decorative ornaments and architectural elements reminiscent of that era. To bring contemporary flair and accommodate new uses for the residents, the interior design nucleus of ARCHITECTS OFFICE has crafted an atmosphere of appreciation and refinement, curated with furniture pieces, objects, and art specific to the residence.
The 420m² apartment, with two bedrooms and a suite, boasts a ceiling height of 3 meters, large windows, and balconies, as well as wide plank flooring, existing elements that contribute to ample natural lighting and a connection with the surrounding landscape. Building upon this connection with the outdoors, the integration between internal spaces has been expanded, allowing for more fluid passages with minimalist layouts, favoring circulation. The classic aesthetic of the Belle Époque, evidenced by arched passageways and windows, original boiseries applied to doors and walls, and plaster moldings as top finishes, has given way to an ambiance reminiscent of an art gallery.
The concept thus stems from a gallery home, a habitat curated with design pieces bringing modernity to this historical setting, operating within the duality of memory and contemporaneity. Among the pieces featured in the curation, notable mentions include the stone side table with a brass base by Lucas Recchia and the Monobloco chair by Estúdio Orth. Lighting includes the white metal Fina Led sconce by Lumini and the Blimp model in translucent glass by Bomma. To enhance each object displayed as in an art exhibition, the coverings have been standardized, with white becoming the predominant color.
Upon entering the reception gallery, the private hall distributes circulation allowing for three directions, two of which are opposing - towards the kitchen and dining room or towards the intimate area - and a passage to the balconyed living area. On the right, a cloakroom space has been maintained to accommodate coats and umbrellas. The bar space features an annex with the Wyllis sideboard by Arthur Casas (Etel), in addition to two Tre Pezzi armchairs by Cassina and Tromso drink side table by Wooding. Works such as Chains by Estúdio Rain, Tri candlestick by Estúdio Orth, and the Skygarden lamp by Dimlux accentuate the exhibition-like traits. The Amorfa table by Arthur Casas for Micasa takes center stage in the dining room, flanked by Senior armchairs in dark green upholstery by Etel, designed by Jorge Zalszupin. Above it, the black metal pendant with milky glass globes by Astep, also from Micasa, and the Morro Mundo artwork from Galeria Nara Roesler complete the environment. In the living room, the violet hue of the Standard sofa by Edra (Firmacasa) complements the Artik armchairs by Baxter (Casual) and the Ribbon by Montenapoleone, which, especially for the Gallery Apartment, features a burnt yellow fabric finish. On the balcony, the Spun armchair by Firmacasa in a purple shade dialogues with the Raviolo armchair by Magis. Moving to the left wing, the home office space is equipped with the Floe Insel sofa by Patricia Urquiola (), and TV, which can also be viewed from the marble table by Estúdio Rain, serving as a desk, positioned near the front facade window of the building. The space also features the Tekiò Circular pendant lamp by Santa&Cole archive (Fas Iluminação) and the Presidencial and Cubo armchairs by Zalszupin (Etel). The joinery of the TV panel uses pau ferro for a contrasting tone.
The TV room proper is located in the intimate area, which provides access to the two bedrooms and the master suite. Comfort is guaranteed by the Pillow sofa by Estúdio Bola, accompanied by artworks by Mano Penalva and Gabriella Garcia, and the wooden wardrobe with boiserie details previously owned by the proprietors, now featuring ribbed glass doors. The master suite, given its amplitude, accounts for nearly 25% of the apartment's footage, comprising a sitting area, two closets, and two bathrooms. Both in the suite and in the other bathrooms of the apartment, marble finishing is maintained on the floors, walls, and countertops. The bathroom ceilings feature smooth vaults that conceal the junction with the walls. Decorative pieces complement the proposed aesthetic. Patricia Urquiola designed the Blue Round bed for the couple, upholstered in blue. Pétala (Etel) and Metal Side by Vitra were chosen as bedside tables. There are also two Micasa armchairs, Sesann and Reversible, respectively upholstered in black leather and off-white fabric.
The Gallery Apartment offers a residence to be appreciated, combining art, design, and the experience of contemplation and essential well-being for contemporaneity.
